Dear all,
Firstly, a huge thank you for being subscribed to my blog!
This blog has had various incarnations. In the beginning (I think it was around 2012) I started a blog about Jesus named ‘Light of the World’. I doubt many (or any) of you remember that blog, but let me know in the comments if you do.
After a short while, I set up a new blog called Perfect Chaos and for quite a few years enjoyed lively discussions with commenters about matters of theology, particularly related to Christianity. That was a wonderful ‘iron sharpens iron’ experience and helped me to explore the Christian faith and refine my understanding of the Bible. It was also around this time that I started to write books about philosophy and religion and focus my writing on the issue of free will.
The blog underwent a ‘rebrand’ recently. I decided to change the domain name to ReflectionsBySteven.com to support the release of my book Reflections: Enlightening Insights Into the Divine Mystery and that was a lot of fun! Not as many people read the blog as they used to (for various reasons) but my passion for writing continues and I have very much enjoyed publishing articles under the name Reflections.
This week, I made a further change. Since God has given me a new name, Topaz, I have changed the blog’s domain name again to ReflectionsByTopaz.com and the blog is now called ‘Reflections by Topaz’ rather than simply ‘Reflections’. The other domain names I have used (PerfectChaos.org and ReflectionsBySteven.com) still work but they now redirect to ReflectionsByTopaz.com. It’s a strange feeling getting used to a new name but also exciting!
As well as continuing to write articles for this blog, I have also put together a simple website — my first as Topaz — which can be viewed by clicking or tapping here. I am unsure about how both my online and offline activities will develop under my new name, but I will try to keep things as simple as possible to avoid confusion! Reading The Book of Mercy, if you haven’t already, will help you to make sense of the name change.
It’s a difficult thing being a perfectionist when life gets complicated. For example, I hate links in the books I have self-published being out of date. There’s a troublesome dilemma we face as writers and authors in the age of the Internet — do we accept imperfections in our work when life throws us a curveball of inspiration, or revisit all of previous work and update it? The latter can be a painstaking process! I trust that God will help me decide what to do.
If you are a fellow blogger, I apologise for any feelings of abandonment or rejection you may have felt due to the fact that in recent years I haven’t been interacting with other bloggers as often as I used to. The reasons why are rather complicated but please forgive me and never take it personally.
God bless you and peace be with you!
Topaz x
